ERP vs WMS: Making the Best Choice for your Business

Choosing the best software for your warehouse may not seem like a tough task but it directly affects the operational and financial health of your business. It is very important to have the right tools, technologies and management systems for the effective functioning of your warehouse. Finding the best business solution that helps in running your warehouse smoothly can be a bit difficult. Basically, there are two management systems which you can choose from – Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Warehouse Management System (WMS). They have varied functionalities but both can be effectively leveraged in warehouse management.

Overview of ERP and WMS

The Warehouse Management System helps in effectively handling the storage along with movement of the inventory. With this system, it is extremely simple to check the progress of every product. The process also provides transparency and you can easily get an idea regarding the core processes including packing, receiving and picking of the product.

Enterprise Resource Planning is also a very effective tool. It empowers the management of warehouses to automate and streamline the data into one solution. Every department of the warehouse like accounts, customer relationship, inventory management etc. can be merged into one single centralized system.

Benefits of  Warehouse Management System

WMS is designed to address the day-to-day activities of the warehouse and gain insights through that into the information stored in it. It helps in increasing visibility into the process of inventory and gives an accurate and better view of the various warehouse operations. It also helps the manufacturers in giving an effective movement of inventory across the chain. It carries itself the detailed knowledge about all the stock items received, packed and shipped. It makes use of wireless networks, RFID technology, barcode scanners etc. to track the movement of products across various locations.

WMS is an independent system and caters to the specific needs of business. Therefore, it also requires supporting solutions to cater to other functionalities of the enterprise. Depending on the real-time information gathered within the warehouse, it provides intelligence on the optimization of movement of inventory. With WMS, various reports can be generated to find the best location of each product and also provides functionalities for picking, packing, shipping, receiving, tracking, visibility analytics and reporting. It also gives inputs on dedicating a suitable inventory location, setting priorities and ratings. Other major benefits of WMS are as follows –

  • Maximum utilization of space with less operating cost.
  • Transparent management of inventory.
  • Efficient management of labor.
  • Optimization of internal operations, supply chain and travel time.
  • Better stock control with easy tracking of inventory materials.
  • Leveraging the benefits of automation.
  • Best management of shipment with better client service.
  • Quick inventory turnover.

Benefits of Enterprise Resource Planning

ERP is a suite of integrated modules that performs collaboration, streamline and automates the operational processes in an organization. It acknowledges all the data from various departments and becomes a centralized repository. This software performs various transaction processing, dashboard generation and report building by collecting, storing, managing and interpreting the collected data from various departments.

ERP involves many major processes like barcode scanning, human resources, manufacturing, order entry, order processing, finance, accounting, inventory tracking, inventory management, purchase orders, warehouse management, customer relationship management, E-commerce integration etc. It provides utmost accuracy and security while flow of information among the departments. By successfully implementing ERP, the departments can use shared, secured and updated information thereby enhancing productivity and profitability. Other major benefits of ERP are as follows –

  • Save money, time and effort.
  • Increased productivity along with client satisfaction.
  • Improve the cash flow and business reporting.
  • Enhanced cloud-based data and security.
  • Supply chain management.
  • Enhancements of business procedure.
  • Better inventory costs.
  • Traceability.

Choosing the Best Fit for your Business

The confusion is still there, are ERP and WMS the same or do they serve different purposes? There are certain features that may be common to both but they are two different business solutions overall with different objectives in mind. They both have many independent features and the organizations choose the one that is most fit for their requirements. Here are certain parameters on which ERP and WMS can be compared –

  • Objective: The objective of ERP is to integrate all the departments of the supply chain and provide a smooth flow of information. WMS aims for streamlining all the operations of the warehouse for a seamless flow of information within the supply chain.
  • Strong Areas: ERP provides an easy flow of information within the departments with maximum security. WMS provides tracking of inventory systems along with real-time information of picking, packing and delivering the goods.
  • Key Features: The key features of ERP include managing the entire process from obtaining raw material to shipment of the final product. It also helps in reduction of overhead costs. WMS manages the deliveries of warehouse – outbound and inbound with goods return, pickup, sales receipts and schedules of delivery across warehouse.
  • Ease of Implementation: ERP is not easy to implement as it involves multiple users and departments. WMS is comparatively easier to implement as it only caters to a certain specific audience.
  • Utilization: ERP is best suited for manufacturing segments that have to depend on various departmental operations. WMS is best for the warehouses with inventory movements, monitoring and real-time stock updates.

Final Words

Deciding between ERP and WMS is not an easy task and there are a few things to be kept in mind while going for the right solution. The organizations should define their long-term objectives, check all the technical conditions, ROI should be worked out and then the ideal solution must be chosen. Both of them are of high value for your organization, the requirements, budget and organizational goals that will help in deciding which one to go for.

Is NativeScript Angular a Boon for App Development?

NativeScript, in collaboration with Google’s Angular ensures that integration between these two delivers a rich and seamless experience to the users. If you are already proficient with Angular, you can do wonders with native mobile apps by using NativeScript. With this amazing combination of Angular and NativeScript, a single code base can be achieved which can be used in web apps and native mobile apps with exceptional performance, seamless animations and a total access to the native platform APIs.

Combining Angular with NativeScript

You can use the functionality of NativeScript in Angular by using the below command –

$ tns create my-angular-app –ng

To start a new project, this command line can be given at the end of the terminal. This will create a project in NativeScript with all the required Angular files, folders and settings to launch. The projects of Angular uses TypeScript by default but NativeScript is capable of integrating all the setup and configurations of TypeScript.

Typically, NativeScript Angular refers to creating native mobile apps with Angular Native. To get started with the basics of Angular Native, you don’t need to learn a new framework, you are only required to create an attractive cross-platform for your libraries on Cocoapods and npm. By using these native platform APIs with TypeScript and JavaScript which frees you from writing a single line of code in Objective – C or Java/Swift ever.

Benefits of Using NativeScript

  • Native Performance:

    The most key benefit of NativeScript is that it provides hassle-free, easy to access, Native UI, that too without any WebViews. You just need to define once, the NativeScript will automatically adapt and execute itself everywhere. You can also customize the UI to specific device resolutions.

  • Fully Extensible:

    NativeScript allows full access to Android and iOS APIs. It also supports in the form of free templates, plugins and application samples in the marketplace. You can also reuse Cocoapods and Android SDKs without any hassle.

  • Easy to Adapt:

    It is very simple to adapt and you can make use of your existing web skillset to develop native applications with CSS, JavaScript and Native UI.

  • Cross-platform Application:

    You don’t need to create different codebases for Android and iOS. The same codebase can be used in deploying a native mobile app for both the platforms. You can also use Vue or Angular to share the existing web-based code.

  • Strong Support:

    The founding organization is just impeccable in supporting the software developers. They also provide enterprise-level support for complicated projects.

  • Open Source:

    NativeScript is totally free and open-source with an Apache 2 license.

Why Use Angular with NativeScript?

  • Robust Framework:

    Angular provides all the necessary infrastructure to build high quality and stable NativeScript applications. You can remodel the concepts of Angular like dependency injection, data binding, services and routing to build native applications.

  • Code and Skill Reuse:

    You can use TypeScript and Angular to build apps for iOS and Android using NativeScript. You can also reuse other elements like JavaScript npm modules, native iOS CocoaPod and Android Arsenal libraries in NativeScript.

  • High Native Performance:

    The NativeScript empowers you to create a robust and complete mobile application with Angular. It also hosts a genuine native UI and gives an exceptional performance. You can get 60fps as a result without getting into the details of JavaScript or CSS.

    The developer community of Angular is already more than 1 million and you can go there for any help related to training, reusable code which can be directly applied to NativeScript projects. This makes the NativeScript a simple choice for Angular developers with regards to native mobile apps.

If you use Angular along with NativeScript, you can develop and get no-compromise mobile apps. This is easily possible when you mix and match the features of AngularJS native UI. This can also be personalized and set with multiple devices and screens. Angular provides all the necessary features including plumbing and creating high maintainable and high quality NativeScript applications. It also allows you to reuse several Angular native concepts like routing, data binding and dependency injection to develop native mobile apps.

Conclusion

To complete a cross-platform development project, you need to make sure that the native user experience is optimum. It is challenging to bring together the strength and power of Angular and NativeScript. For this, the latest version of AngularJS has made it usable and works even outside the web browser. The NativeScript developers have teamed up with google developers for the seamless functioning of NativeScript with Angular.

Additionally, AngularJS follows a structured path to create a JavaScript app. It offers a better way to load views and pieces of code into the application productively. As a result, this requires fewer issues, fewer comprehension demands, cleaner codes and less composition. It also comes with several other features like view orchestration, routing, dependency injections, animations and others.

If you want to acquire a native UI, you can simply go for the mix of AngularJS and NativeScript. This will help you with a mobile application that is developed for both Android and iOS in a very less amount of time.

Django Vs. Laravel Vs. Node – Which One is the Best Back-End Development Framework in 2021?

The frameworks of the web are a collection of software packages that makes complex web development easy and simple. They also have built-in functionalities which reduce the time required for the development. In simple words, frameworks are very suitable if you want to transit from the development phase to the production phase. When it comes to the selection of the best framework, the community of developers is divided. Some feel that Node.js is the best framework available while for many developers Django and Laravel are the best web development framework they can ever find. If you are new to the realm of Backend development, you can easily get confused. Here is an assessment of the efficiency of these development frameworks – Django, Laravel and Node.

Overview of  Django

Django is a very lightweight framework based on Python and came into existence in 2005. When working on a complex project, Django is the most preferred framework for many developers. Many of the successful start-ups have deployed Django across the world including Facebook and Mozilla. Other than being lightweight, it is also power-packed with amazing functionalities which makes the web development process very exciting. Here are some of the pros and cons of using the Django framework –

Pros Cons
This platform allows for a highly structured approach. It does not support real-time web apps.
It offers enhanced scalability. Before working with the framework, one should possess hands-on experience.
There is very little scope for security breaches with Django. It is totally based on the ORM.
It is supported by a huge community of developers across the world.

Here are some of the reasons why developers prefer Django for their projects –

  • It offers the developers an enhanced ecosystem.
  • Comprehensive and detailed documentation is provided with Django.
  • An open-source platform with a large thriving community of developers.
  • One of the best frameworks to carry out API development projects.
  • It is easy to learn and deploy even for complicated projects.

Overview of  Node.JS

Apart from being a framework, Node.JS is also a dedicated server. It is an open-source JavaScript-based runtime environment that plays a very important role in cross-platform application development. It is also equipped with asynchronous event-driven APIs. It operates on a single thread and has emerged as one of the most popular backend frameworks for developers. As its operations are based on a single thread, the developers need not to worry about blocking during execution. One more important feature of Node.JS is that the whole server is based on events and it triggers itself during the callbacks. Here are some of the pros and cons of using the Node.JS framework –

Pros Cons

It offers easy scalability and can be easily augmented to the existing system.

It supports asynchronous programming which is difficult to comprehend for many developers.
In this framework, the requests are cached automatically in the memory of the app.  With Node.JS, it is not easy to work on a relational database.
It helps in building high-performance apps since it runs on Google’s V8 JavaScript engine.  The Node.JS library is not extensive which makes the developers look somewhere else.
It provides the developers with support for various tools.

Here are some of the reasons why developers prefer Node.JS for their projects –

  • It assists with cross-platform development.
  • When it is about executing command-line utilities, it is a great framework.
  • One of the greatest advantages is the huge community of developers.
  • It also facilitates reusability.

Overview of  Laravel

Laravel is one of the most preferred backend development frameworks. Though it was launched after Django, it has managed to attract developers with its wide range of features. These features help in simplifying the development process along with the time required for the development. It is a very common fact that developers opt for Laravel when they want to develop big or small web apps. But, if you want to work with Laravel, you should be an expert in PHP. Most of the applications developed with Laravel are used for Content Management systems (CMS). This framework is also known as the powerhouse of the features which helps in every phase of the development. Here are some of the pros and cons of using the Laravel framework –

Pros Cons
It offers best-in-class security in terms of code. There is very little inherent support with Laravel.
It has built-in blade templates which help in designing impactful layouts. When compared to other frameworks, the community support is not extensive.
It required PHP as it works on the basis of the latest MVCD frameworks. For most of the developers, Laravel is still in the development phase and so miss out on various aspects.
A large number of companies are using Laravel for app development.

Here are some of the reasons why developers prefer Laravel for their projects –

  • It is open-source.
  • Advanced security.
  • Facilitates unit testing.
  • Advantage of the Blade template engine.

Node.js vs. Django vs. Laravel

As you saw above, these three frameworks have different functionalities. For example, when it comes to community support, Node.JS easily outsources the other two but when it is about the framework base, each of them has unique features. Node.JS works on Chrome’s V8 JavaScript engine and helps the developers in creating engaging web apps. Django works on MVT pattern based on Python language whereas Laravel follows the MVC pattern and enables you to develop CMS web apps.

When it comes to security, Node.JS has some advanced features. Laravel can also facilitate better security when compared to the rest of the frameworks. It stores every password in the database and uses hashed password methodology. Django also alerts the developers for errors in the codes during the development phase.

Final Words

Each of the frameworks has its fair share of advantages and limitations, when it comes to the selection of the best frameworks, first you should assess the requirements of your project. After a deep analysis, you would be able to come to a solid conclusion.

What’s New in Python 3.10?

Python 3.10 is the latest version of Python and has been released in its first beta version. With the release of the beta version, the set of features for Python 3.10 has been finalized and the audacious Python developers are encouraged to examine their code with their latest builds. There are some interesting additions in Python which we are going to cover – structural pattern matching, more precise error reporting, parameter specification variables and other major changes.

Here’s a synopsis of all the major new features in Python 3.10 and how they can help your code.

Structural Pattern Matching: There were many failed attempts to add a case-like or switch syntax to Python and structural pattern matching is the outcome of such attempts. It enables you to match variables with one set of possible values with case/switch in other languages. It also enables you to match with the patterns of values like an object to set a certain value with a certain property. This enhances the range of possibilities to a great extent and makes it possible to write a code that quickly includes various scenarios. One of the examples is shown below –

command = input()

match command.split():

case [“quit”]:

quit()

case [“load”, filename]:

load_from(filename)

case [“save”, filename]:

save_to(filename)

case _:

print (f”Command ‘{command}’ not understood”)

Precise Error Reporting: The error reporting with Python was dependent on the impulse of the parser for so long. Python 3.9 has unfolded an entirely new parser that is more robust, faster and easier for the team of Python to maintain and be less corrupted with internal hacks. The biggest advantage of the new parser is that it offers the developers far more useful error messages which are also more precise. In the 3.8 version of Python, the following code would generate a syntax error.

print (“Hello”

print (“What’s going on?”)

File “.\test.py”, line 2

print (“What’s going on?”)

^

SyntaxError: invalid syntax

The error message is not so helpful as the real problem lies in an earlier line. The latest version of Python generates a much more useful error.

File “.\test.py”, line 1

print (“Hello”

^

SyntaxError: ‘(‘ was never closed

In this vein, most of the errors produced by the parser have been improved, they not only deliver accurate information about the error but more precisely talk about where the error occurred.

Parameter Specification Variables: The typing module of Python is used to illustrate the code with type information and lets you outline the type of callable like a function. That type of information cannot be spread across all the callable which makes it difficult to illustrate things like function decorators. There are two new additions to typing typing.Concatenate and typing.ParamSpec makes it possible to explain callable with more abridged type definition information. Here is an example of this new feature –

from typing import Awaitable, Callable, TypeVar

R = TypeVar(“R”)

def add_logging(f: Callable[…, R]) -> Callable[…, Awaitable[R]]:

async def inner(*args: object, **kwargs: object) -> R:

await log_to_database()

return f(*args, **kwargs)

return inner

@add_logging

def takes_int_str(x: int, y: str) -> int:

return x + 7

await takes_int_str(1, “A”)

await takes_int_str(“B”, 2) # fails at runtime

As it is not possible to specify the liner with proper details regarding what kind of types are being passed to the functions that are handled by the decorator, the liner is not able to catch the invalid types in the second occurrence of takes_int_str. Below is shown how the code would look with the latest parameter specification variable syntax.

from typing import Awaitable, Callable, ParamSpec, TypeVar

P = ParamSpec(“P”)

R = TypeVar(“R”)

def add_logging(f: Callable[P, R]) -> Callable[P, Awaitable[R]]:

async def inner(*args: P.args, **kwargs: P.kwargs) -> R:

await log_to_database()

return f(*args, **kwargs)

return inner

@add_logging

def takes_int_str(x: int, y: str) -> int:

return x + 7

await takes_int_str(1, “A”) # Accepted

await takes_int_str(“B”, 2) # Correctly rejected by the type checker

ParamSpec enables us to indicate where to capture positional and keyword arguments. Concatenate can be used to pinpoint how arguments are removed or added.

Other Major Changes:

  • Instead of Union [X, Y], Union types can now be expressed as X|Y for brevity.
  • The built-in zip has now a strict keyword that puts together the results of various iterables. When True is set, the zip raises an exception if any one of the iterable is used up before the others.
  • Parenthetical syntax and multi-line now support
  • Variables are now stated as type aliases, they enable forward references, the better difference between type declaration in scopes and more robust errors which involve types.
  • To build CPython, SSL 1.1.1 or a newer version is now required which revamps one of the key dependencies of CPython.

Final Words

These were some of the important new features introduced with Python 3.10. The full release of this version is expected in October 2021 between which the Python developers will be working on enhancing what has been added. It is still in the alpha version and still far away from being fully tested and ready to use.

Magento Vs Shopify – Which is the Best?

Choosing the right platform to start an online business has never been easy especially when you are new to E-commerce. The most common questions arise regarding the open-source platforms against the hosted carts. Magento and Shopify are the two best-in-class platforms that are the choice of thousands of merchants to settle in. Both the platforms have gained popularity as they offer superior functionalities for a feature-rich online store. In this blog, we will provide you with a comprehensive comparison of Shopify and Magento that helps you in figuring out which one is most appropriate for your business.

Below we have mentioned some of the important criteria on which these two platforms can be compared –

  • Pricing:

    Pricing is a very important factor to consider while choosing a shopping cart. For Magento, you need not take a monthly subscription, you can download, install and set up your store for free. To publish your website, you just need to pay for the domain and a hosting provider and the price depends on your selection. There are several apps available on the Magento store that enhance your store’s capabilities and the price can cost up to $15000.

    The pricing of Shopify is subscription-based, there are 5 tiers ranging from $9 to $2000 per month. This plan includes both hosting fees and domain so you don’t need to purchase these elements separately. There is a more affordable set of website templates and themes with only $180 for the best website template in the market. Whereas, the maximum price for a theme on Magento can go up to $499.

  • Themes and Templates:

    After budget and ease-of-use, the next thing companies care about is how their platform will look like. Shopify offers a wide range of themes including 9 free and 64 premium themes. The Shopify store owners need to pay around $100-$180 to purchase a theme for their attractive storefronts. The features of Shopify themes are –

  • Drag and Drop editor that enables you to add, switch, remove and resize the elements.
  • The themes are mobile-optimized.
  • You can easily create and add new pages.
  • The color palette and images can be changed accordingly.
  • Social media feeds can be added easily.

Magento has 11 mobile responsive themes with charges up to $499 for 10 premium options. With appropriate coding knowledge, the themes can also be created from scratch. The features which Magento themes offers are –

  • More flexible customization.
  • Makes your store more engaging by adding animations.
  • A featured product slider can also be added to your home page.
  • Newsletters can also be incorporated in the footer of the webpage.
  • Cross-selling blocks can also be placed on the product pages.
  • Ease of Use:

    Shopify is clearly very easy to use against Magento, this E-commerce solution is easy to use because of the nature of a hosted platform. This E-commerce platform is built for everyone including tech-savvy and also people with only little technical background. The merchants will not face any difficulty while building their store.

    Magento is not as easy and user-friendly as Shopify, especially for people with a non-technical background. This platform gives the user complete control over their website but it requires an all-inclusive knowledge of technology to install and set up their online store.

  • Add-ons and Apps:

    Themes give the look and feel to your website but for the additional functionality, you need to add the extensions. App stores and extensions are offered by all the systems and most of the apps are just a click away that enable you to add multiple features to your E-commerce store. Magento provides around 4000 extensions and no comprehensive coding knowledge is required to install and implement these. There are some important and helpful extensions like Mage plaza which enable you to promote the products by giving custom discount options etc.

    The Shopify app store provides 4200+ free and paid apps to take control of the store, add features and boost sales. There are some popular apps like Trust Hero which enable you to show the trust icons to your visitors and potential customers to reduce the cart abandonment rate.

  • Search Engine Optimization:

    SEO allows you to optimize your E-commerce website SEO which affects your store ranking. In this aspect, Shopify and Magento both offer similar options. On both platforms, you can easily edit the title and description of a page to define how the store will be displayed in the search results. You can also add alt text to the images which help the search engines to understand what they are all about. In the Shopify app store and Magento’s marketplace, you can buy SEO apps. One of the examples is the SEO booster for Shopify which helps in finding issues related to SEO so that problems can be solved on time.

Which is the Best?

Both Magento and Shopify are fairly powerful platforms but Shopify offers greater ease of use as it is a hosted platform. Magento is free but requires purchasing hosting and the setup and installation procedures yourself which can only be done by tech-savvy people. But at the same time, Magento offers more opportunities for customization, feature expansion and scalability. You can have add-ons and payment gateways without any extra fees. You should use Shopify if you want your store to get up and run quickly or you are just starting out on E-commerce but want a full-fledged E-commerce store. You should use Magento if you have the required coding skills and want to build the store for your large-sized or medium-sized business.

How SEO is Relevant to the Developers for Building Better Apps?

The job and responsibility of a web developer is much more than just designing and developing an application. Along with adding right set of features in the app, they also need to take proactive actions that makes sure to enhance the user experience. SEO and its relevance also fall under this category and incorporating its techniques is very necessary while developing the application if you want the app to perform well in the search engine rankings. This blog is a guide for the web developers to keep them updated on the latest techniques of SEO which they should be using while developing a web app.

Let’s go through the basics of SEO first –

What is SEO and Why is it Needed?

It stands for Search Engine Optimization, when any keyword is typed on browser, the search engine decides how to display the results i.e. which web pages will come in the first 10 results and which comes next. The algorithms of search engine use the stored data about each webpage and decides which webpage offer the closest content regarding the keywords of the user. You just need to convince the algorithms that your web page is the one that has the most relevant content the user is looking for.

In addition to the content, the algorithms display the website with best user experiences and as a developer, your accountability lies in the technical side of SEO. This requires some code additions, changes and tweaks for optimization. Now let’s go through the essential tips of SEO for the web developers. A web developer should keep these things in mind for SEO while developing an app –

  • Relevant HTML Meta Tags:

    The crawlers of search engine look for certain HTML tags on the web page to determine the type of content it is offering. The most important tags are the title and meta description tags. If the meta tags of a website are written by yourself, you also need to consider the relevance of keywords.

    • Keywords:

      In the terms of search engine, keywords are the short or long phrases users type in the search box. First, you need to identify the relevant keywords that will drive the users to your web page. Use those keywords in the most important places like web page’s title tag and H1 tag. They can also be used in other headlines and paragraphs.

    • Title Tag:

      The most effective position to place a keyword in a title tag is its beginning. It can also be used anywhere inside the title and it should not be longer than 60 characters including special characters and spaces.

    • Meta Description Tag:

      Meta description weigh less on the outcome of the ranking algorithm. Since it is displayed on the SERP and users get an idea about the content on the web page, it should be written in the way that the user clicks on the link to your web page.

  • Robots.txt File and Robots Meta Tags:

    The web developers should use robots.txt file to intimate the search engines to not crawl the pages specified in a file. If the crawlers are blocked from particular web page, this stops the requests of crawlers from overwhelming the server of app. The robot.txt file can also be used to prevent web pages from being indexed on Google or other search engines. The page could still get indexed if any other page is linked to the current page. You can add the noindex robots meta tag to the HTML code of the page to remove the indexing once and for all.

  • Follow and No Follow Links:

    A search engine crawler crawls the linked pages inside a page that it is already visiting. If you want to prevent a linked web page from getting associated with your site, then you can pass nofollow as the value of the rel attribute. If you want the crawler to now follow any of your links then instruct them in a single line on your meta robots tag.

  • Page Load Speed:

    This is one of the main aspects for providing an enhanced user experience to the users. As per a survey conducted by Google, the chances of bounce increase by 32% when page load time goes from 1 second to 3 second and increases by 90% when page load time goes to 5 second. Google made it as a ranking factor use in the ranking algorithm as page speed is very relevant in user experience. Google’s Lighthouse is an amazing tool to measure the performance of your site. It tells the accurate page speed in perfect network conditions and even in crappy connections.

  • Mobile Friendliness:

    Google took the mobile friendliness factor into its ranking algorithm as a mobile-friendly website offers an enhanced user experience. When the number of users accessing the web through mobile phones are all time high then no second thoughts should be given to transform your web app to serve the mobile users in a better way. The points you should keep in mind during this transformation are –

    • Responsive and Dynamic Design:

      A responsive design of the web app would have the minimum impact on the existing codebase. New viewport meta tags can be set for more flexibility for different screen resolutions. Using a dynamic design helps in serving different HTML content to desktop and mobile users after detecting the user-agent type requesting the content.

    • Mobile Subdomain:

      Generally, the subdomain has a similar name to m.example.com or mobile.example.com but it takes lot of effort and time in implementation. You should use a separate subdomain for the mobile users.

Why you Should Prefer React JS for Enterprise App Development?

From a developer’s perspective, React JS is entitled to a special mention as it is the most well-known JavaScript library which came under the spotlight. It is single-handedly managed and owned by Facebook until now. Its prime benefits include simplicity, smoothness, agility and scalability of the JavaScript library with which new generations of applications are built. In the last decade, JavaScript has gained very huge popularity and its frameworks like Ionic, Angular, Meteor, Phone Gap and more that help developers in developing complex applications. Facebook’s React JS is one of the most powerful, efficient and open-source frameworks to design dynamic UI.

There are several successful applications that were developed using React JS from fortune500 to start-ups. Some serene examples of this framework are Netflix, PayPal, Uber Eats, Reddit, Instacart and many more.

Benefits of React JS For Enterprise App Development

React JS is an evolving framework and is the future of front-end development. It is getting refined each day and comes with several benefits over other frameworks. Here are some strong reasons to use React JS for enterprise app development projects.

  • Engaging and Efficient Way of Web App Development:

    While working with React JS, the coding becomes easy and in place of messy codes, it allows the developers to use JSX which is a fusion of JavaScript functionalities and HTML. JSX made the learning and implementation much easier than the traditional JavaScript templating. It saves development time and lets the developers focus on individual components. It is one of the best benefits of React JS that developers have full control over the way applications behave on the action of users by using the action, state and event management.

  • Perfect User Interface:

    The User Interface of an application makes it engaging and has a direct relationship with the success rate. The declarative components with React JS enable the developers to easily develop complicated UI functions along with debugging them. The User Interface developed using React JS makes the app smooth and responsive with a lower loading time. With React JS, the enterprise app will offer simplicity and mobile-first experiences at the same time.

  • Reusable Components to Save Time:

    React JS offer reusability of the components where developers can reuse generic components without any problem. The components with non-complex logic are easier to reuse and maintain. React JS allows the programmers to create a class and to use them as many times as they want. These components are detached from each other and change in one does not affect the other. The developers can save time and effort and can focus on optimizing the app efficiency.

  • Faster Rendering using Virtual DOM:

    For all the components, React JS uses a virtual DOM which creates all the updates and renders to the real DOM on its own without interfering with the developer. If the developer creates any changes to the application, these are first done over the virtual DOM. If all the changes are risk-free and don’t affect the performance then the update is made in the React-DOM. For all the changes in the app, the risk management takes place and all the cost for DOM management is lowered.

  • Easy Scalability of Apps:

    The scalability of apps has become a very important factor to consider because of the need for rich enterprise web applications. The front-end of any app needs to be scalable so that it can handle a big number of changes, users and datasets. ReactJS is very flexible in that it leaves the developers worry-free and they can decide everything about the scalability like the app’s architecture and structure. They can also manage the pattern of JSX and code and reduce the situation of complex or messy code. The performance of the app remains as it is if you want to update the app with new features or you want to scale your enterprise app or even if you want to add more components to your app.

  • Flexible with Several Platforms:

    React JS is the best choice for enterprise app development as it provides support for different libraries and flexibility to select architecture and tools. Businesses can go for any customization of the app by choosing preferred tools and tech without any platform issue. When it comes to custom app development projects React JS is the most loved framework and the best platform for the best user experience, quick development and simplicity in the process.

  • Backward-Compatible and Future-Proof Applications:

    As the framework is highly compatible, there is no need to change the existing code every time there is an update. The public APIs of the framework remain the same disregard the update. Because of its backward compatibility, the developers don’t need to replace their concepts or knowledge. These updates make the framework future-proof and keep it relevant to the near future. These features are for all the platforms including Android, iOS and more and let the developers conveniently fix the bugs and errors in very little time.

  • Integration with Legacy Systems:

    If an existing system is upgraded with an enhanced UI, it can change the overall experience of a legacy system. The integration of the legacy system with the React JS framework will open new doors of improvement in the existing UI. The developers can easily integrate this framework into the existing system as per the needs of the business whereas recreating the whole system would require a lot of time, effort and money.

  • Single-Way Data Flow:

    For all the components, ReactJS uses a virtual DOM which creates all the updates and renders to the real DOM on its own without interfering with the developer. If the developer creates any changes to the application, these are first done over the virtual DOM. If all the changes are risk-free and don’t affect the performance then the update is made in the React-DOM. For all the changes in the app, the risk management takes place and all the cost for DOM management is lowered.

  • Upgraded Productivity:

    Using React JS with all the features like Backward-Compatibility, component reusability, virtual DOM and its flexibility make the development process very easy. It also enables the developers to create applications that provide exceptional User Interfaces. React JS is the best for enterprise app development with its mobile-first experience and consumer-grade simplicity.

  • Big Community Support:

    React JS has a big community of developers that contribute to improving its documentation every time. With this approach, all the documentation and information of innovation is always available for everyone. The community comprises millions of developers and many contributors who are available on various platforms like Stack Overflow to fix all the issues.

To Conclude

If you are looking for some out of the box solutions for your enterprise apps, hiring React JS developers will be the best choice. It is the best UI framework available that allows the developers to create complex UI structures without facing any issue. It offers the best solution for front-end developers when combined with some tools or technologies to get a complete framework. The businesses get the best possible outcomes for their customized enterprise app development projects or they can also integrate it with their legacy system as per their business requirements.

How to Optimize your E-commerce Store for Voice Search?

Voice Search is an upsurge to the future of E-commerce and moving ahead it will be the new normal for everyone across the globe.

If you own an E-commerce store, it is very important to be as visible as you can in the results of search engines. The higher your rank is, there are more chances for you to drive considerable organic traffic to your store. You must remember that there will be people who are already interested in the type of products you sell. With the advancements in technology, the search is taking many different forms and the one getting most popular is the voice search.

What Does Voice Search Mean?

It is a feature in which the user gives a voice command and on the basis of references to the voice command, it searches over the internet and finds the relevant product, website or app. In technical terms, it involves open domain keyword queries on any kind of information on the internet. This search is interactive and includes continual refinement by asking for clarification. The search can be done with any device which takes voice as input. The ways in which voice searches can be activated are –

  • Click on the voice command icon.
  • Call out the name of the virtual assistant device you use.
  • Click on the Home button or gesture on the User Interface.

It was stated by Google that every 5th search made on a mobile device is made by voice and the number of voice searches is only going to increase by the end of 2021. The audio searches in the future will be more natural, engaging and more vocal. The market is hit by a lot of voice assistant devices with which the voice tech is getting more natural and advanced. The popular voice assistants are Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Windows 10 Cortana, Apple Siri and more. During the outbreak of the coronavirus, the users of voice assistants have increased from 46% to 52% and this trend will see a significant increase in upcoming years in the E-commerce industry.

Voice Search Changed the Traditional way of Searching

There are many different ways a customer can search through voice when compared to the traditional search. If a customer wants to buy a pair of Reebok shoes, then in traditional search he/she would simply write a phase “Reebok Shoes”. However, in voice search, the phrase gets more conversational like “Hey Google, from where can I purchase a pair of Reebok shoes?” or “Hey Google, I want to buy Reebok shoes”. One can even enquire about the weather like “Ok Google, how is the weather today” “Ok Google, how about the weather this weekend”.

As per the PPC report, there are high chances that user will search their questions through voice and hence the E-commerce store owners should consider voice search to be a top-funnel activity.

Strategies you can Adopt to Optimize your E-commerce Store for Voice Search

If a customer is searching for a product or service that you are offering, then you should know what changes you have to follow if you want to be discoverable. First of all, you should be following all the Search Engine Optimization techniques and provide an engaging user experience. Even voice search is ultimately a search and if your website appears in search engine result pages (SERP), then you have higher chances of being found by the users. Following are some of the strategies that you can adopt for your online store –

  • Optimize for Questions:

    The majority of the voice searches come in the form of questions instead of phrases. Instead of saying “Shoe stores in California”, the user might ask “Where is the nearest shoe store?” or “Tell me the best shoe stores in California”. You should structure your content after keeping this thing in mind so that it answers your customer’s questions instead of just inserting the phrases and keywords. The trigger words should be paid attention to for the best results like “What”, “How”, “Best” and more.

  • Aim for Featured Snippets:

    The E-commerce store owner should aim for obtaining the “Position Zero” or the featured snippet on the search results page and this will be a game-changer in a voice-search dominated world. For Google, a snippet is the zero result and its place is on the top of any other search result in a query. So, if there is a snippet for a voice search query, the website and the content will be read back to the users by Siri and Google Assistant. You can optimize your content for featured snippets by answering and restating the question briefly on the target page and make sure the most relevant keywords are incorporated in the title, page URL and H1 tag.

  • Use Natural Language:

    In voice search, it is assumed that users enter a query in a similar way in which they speak in real life. Even Google supports this fact and states that more than 70% of the requests to the Google Assistant are asserted in natural language and does not involve typical keywords people use when typing in a web search. The key will be to focus on long-tail keywords as in voice search people look for specific information and enter longer queries. You need to identify the conversational search queries and brainstorm the phrases and keywords that your prospective customers are likely to enter.

  • Optimize for Local Search:

    If you are into the local markets, voice search must be used to get in front of customers who are looking for a similar product in their city. The local retailers need to create web content that covers everything about their product or service. It is very important for the local retailers to answer localized search queries with targeted long-tail keywords. You can also create store locator pages that can increase the ranking for localized search.

Final Words

Voice search is not just a trending piece of technology, it is becoming a part of the daily lives of consumers and totally changing the way people used smart devices and search engines. If you want to keep up with the consumers and their voice search queries, this is the right time to kickstart it. Optimize your E-commerce store with the above-mentioned strategies and keep testing them to obtain the top spot in SERPs.

Node.js vs Python – Choosing the Best Backend Framework

Choosing the right programming language for a new project is one of the most difficult decisions programmers make. In the world of programming, there is no such thing as a master of all trades and every new project comes with a unique problem. Different programming languages have their own strengths and weaknesses which make them fit for some situations but not all. Node.JS and Python are in the group of the most popular technologies for backend development. We will compare these two technologies to figure out which works better in which case.

What are Python and Node.JS?

Python is the most popular language for Machine Learning and GitHub’s second most popular language. It is an object-oriented programming language that is dynamically typed and supports multiple programming models. It is used to create applications for web, desktop and mobile and comes with an all-inclusive collection of libraries and packages to smoothen the process of development.

Node.JS is majorly used as a backend framework and is a JavaScript runtime environment created on Google Chrome’s V8 JavaScript engine which is the dominant contributor to enhancing the efficiency of Node.JS code. It is used to build scalable and efficient web applications that run on JavaScript and can be used for frontend and backend development as well.

Detailed Comparison of Python and Node.JS Development

To give a better understanding of both the competitors, here is a detailed comparison with some of the pre-defined factors.

Speed and Performance: In Python web development, the processes requests in a single flow whereas, in Node.JS, multithreading is possible. Django makes it easy to handle high loads up to a limit but this does not make it a great option for mobile applications.

With the V8 engine, the speed and efficiency in Node.JS development are vastly enhanced, it interprets JavaScript code to machine language enabling it to deliver excellent performance. While developing real-time web solutions, Node.JS should be the first option where updates are also generated and shared.

Trending Technologies: In the smart technology era, Python development service is the go-to choice for cutting edge technologies like Data Science, Machine Learning and IoT. For ML and IoT, there are various tools, libraries and variants of Python along with experts in the community.

Node.JS possesses the capability to build IoT devices but is more popular than Python for developing web applications including real-time communication. Because of JavaScript’s popularity, Node.JS development is being increasingly used as a server-side framework.

Architecture: Python requires special tools to provide support for asynchronous programming. The Node.JS architecture includes a single thread event loop which enables it to handle thousands of concurrent connections when paired with the non-blocking nature of Node.JS. This makes Node.JS the best option for real-time web applications.

Syntax: With Python’s syntax, it is possible to write fewer lines of code to get more. It is free of curly brackets which makes it easier to understand and debug. It is a beginner-friendly programming language and most people can read the code easily with a bit of technical knowledge.

The Node.JS syntax is largely similar to the browser’s JavaScript syntax and with prior knowledge of JavaScript, one should face no challenges while working with Node.JS.

Universality: Python comes bundled with macOS and Linux and can be used for frontend and backend cross-platform development. It is a powerful programming language for desktop and web development but is an impractical choice for mobile development.

Node.JS is also commonly used for the frontend and backend development of web applications. It also reduces development costs and efforts creating a variety of cross-platform applications on mobile, web, IoT and cloud.

Scalability: Python development lacks scalability as the runtime interpretation of Python code makes it a slower programming language. It also lacks support for multi-threading as the internal lock mechanism prevents it from running multiple tasks together. These limitations can be reduced by using Python implementations like Jython or CPython.

Node.JS development is naturally scalable as it is built into the runtime environment and includes a cluster module that possesses the capability of handling the full power of your machine. It also allows for horizontal and vertical scaling of web applications by adding new nodes for horizontal scaling and additional resources for vertical scaling.

Extensibility: Python can be easily extended with several frameworks like Flask, Django, web2py and more for web-only and full-stack development. The features can also be extended for the C/C++ programming language with an API given in the C source file.

Node.JS has a pool of frameworks for extending its features like Loopback.JS, Derby.JS, Koa.JS, Hapi.JS and many more which enable the developers for faster application development.

Error Handling: In the case of Python development, it is easier for developers to find and debug errors because of its compact and readable syntax. Python has an upper edge when compared to Node.JS for better and easier error handling.

Node.JS development is also capable of finding and debugging errors and includes superior exception handling options. It can handle the error at any point in the lifecycle of an application.

Final Words

Node.JS and Python, both are very powerful options for programmers to develop web applications. Choosing between the two depends on two important factors – the skill of the developer and the purpose of the project. They both offer some advantages over the other but these will never dominate the requirements of the project as there is always a solution for the shortcomings. It also depends on how comfortable your team can work on any one of the technologies.

E-Commerce Sales Funnel – Business Optimization at Its Core

E-commerce sales funnel is an interpretation of a user’s path from the moment they come on your E-commerce website till the point they convert i.e., complete the desired action. Every business has a unique sales funnel depending on the structure of the E-commerce website but the essentials of the E-commerce sales funnel will always remain the same. Every stage of the E-commerce funnel is designed in such a way that the prospect is moved closer towards the conversion point and a successfully completed purchase.

Why Do You Need E-commerce Sales Funnel?

The sales funnel accurately presents the expected movement of a buyer who came to the site through a referral link, advertising channel, mailing list or search and took a certain action. When the conversion funnel is well-optimized, it helps in moving out of the practically breaking even situation and start making profits. Below, is a common example of an E-commerce sales funnel.

At the top of the funnel, people just walk past your store and only half of them decide to go in and view the products and offers you have. About one-third of them put something in the shopping cart and only around one-fifth of them will complete the purchase.

Stages of E-commerce Sales Funnel

A usual E-commerce sales funnel has four steps and on each of them, the consumer makes decisions based on their view of your product, brand and competitors.

Awareness: In the first stage, the consumer is becoming familiar with the brand and its offerings. This critical stage requires useful content and high-quality advertising. Dynamic content can help in enhancing conversion rates with visual influence. People choose from multiple offers and you should be able to convince them that your solution is the best.

Engagement: The targeted traffic is now driven to your website through your regular and paid channels but you need to keep a check that your audience doesn’t escape. You need to keep the customers engaged and interested in your offers by providing educational and entertainment value. They are already browsing the website and considering buying something, your goal is to move them down to the funnel and fulfil the next step.

Desire: Help the customer in forming a desire for the certain offer they are already interested in. State the particular benefits of your product or service apart from all the features. The marketing message and not-so-obvious benefits should be focused on the end consumer. The user should be convinced that your products are the best and push them to add products to their cart.

Action: Make the user click on the buy now button and complete the transaction. Evaluate the whole checkout process and what can make a person refuse to buy the product. This can be anything like high shipping costs, lack of alternative payment methods and more.

Lesson 2: Social media and engagement : How does social media work with the engagement funnel?

Best Strategies That Help Convert Better at Every Stage of the Funnel

  1. Outline a Customer Journey: The purchase journey can be mapped with Google Analytics and you can find out what people are doing when they visit the pages on your website. Which domains bring the most traffic? On average, how many touchpoints does the consumer make before making a purchase? With the help of Facebook ads, you can also communicate your value proposition and users can quickly understand what the business is all about.
  2. Pair Funnel Stages with Conversion Triggers: In the four stages mentioned above, you can list the things you want to show at each stage and page on your site. Special Facebook discounts and sales promotion work across the stages of the E-commerce sales funnel. You can also get the user’s attention in the first phase by offering welcome discounts. You can also direct the visitors to a relevant blog post and if the content is being responded to, the user will click on the ad and visit the site.
  3. Analyze the Moment When User Turns into a Customer: In E-commerce businesses, when a visitor submits his contact information, he/she becomes a lead and this is where a good lead generation strategy is needed. In the phase of consideration, Email should be an important channel in generating leads. Email marketing and social proof together can take the user to the next step. A tempting offer along with lead magnets, promotion, sales, contests and more will increase your sales.

Final Words

The E-commerce sales funnel can be discouraging but with the right data, you can enhance the user experience and eventually sales. It is necessary to optimize E-commerce sales funnel along with your pages and content for each stage of the conversion and track the KPIs that are most important to your funnel. You can even collect more data with behavior reports, A/B tests and posts. Implement the above-mentioned strategies step by step and you will surely reach the set goals.
